Look up at the sky. No matter where you are in your pool you can see it. See the countless oxygen atoms cavorting in our beloved planet’s thin and delicate biosphere. Those atoms diffusing through your outer membrane right now — burning your sugars and keeping you alive — have been here from the beginning, from the creation of the planet, from the creation of the universe.

Let that give you some perspective. You are part oxygen right now. Therefore you are part eternal. Relax. Death is an illusion.

And how do the oxygen atoms feel about it? Each has a long history, long travels. Do they care whether they’re inside you or whether they’re in the lung of a primate or whether they’re combusting a leaf in a forest fire? Not at all!

They exist in the moment, doing the task of the moment, with elemental cheer. So let us aspire to be as oxygen, bringing our warm, loving energy impartially to one after another after another.
  • Lovely reflection, @Meso_Profundus . I needed the perspective. I’ve been dealing with a tough quadruple all day. It turned out their Acido was also part of another quadruple in another pool about three feet away.

The Acido told both quads they had to travel a lot for work. The Acido got caught by going to a game between teams from the two pools. “I was busy! I didn’t have time to look at the schedule!” they told me.

What a nightmare. Both Facs are totally at risk. They can’t comprehend another Fac mirroring their Acido.
  • Has anyone noticed that your Oblis have been particularly sad lately? This is just anecdotal and maybe it’s just the happenstance of my practice, but I’ve had all these Oblis being really down in the dumps.

I’ve been doing all the textbook stuff — encouraging their Facs to really boost their egos, making sure they’re not too hot or too cold — and nothing’s working.
  • I’ve been having a similar situation with my Oblis. I have a hunch: I think it’s the election. Oblis are so concerned with making the right choice and it’s been such an ugly campaign.

I’m going to try to get as many of my Oblis as I can to participate in the Big Party here on Thermophiles in Love this week. It’ll distract them from the endless, open-wound news cycle.

Plus, I really like how TiL handles matchmaking. It makes forming quadruples especially good for Oblis.

Election blues r getting my cells down too. The oblis, like crazy, yeah. Let's get them shaking their organelles this week, yeah?

So wait hold up, @Meso_Mirakulus. What's to be done by you re: this straying acido? I mean, double-quadrupling up? Like, what the goo, cell? Just the thought of it makes my peptidoglycan layer knot up. What a mess for you! If the twitterazzi gets word, the mucus might really hit the vent, if you know what I mean. So like, what are you going to do?
  • Can you teach me your acido straying, thermal minded ways? A fellow meso needs guidance
  • How silly of a meso to write in a meso only category for acidos... MY BAD. Meso's can only do so much.
